This 2 Euro commemorative coin from Germany in 2013 refers to the 50th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty, which was held at the Élysée Palace in Paris on January 22, 1963. With this treaty of friendship, it improved the relationship between France and West Germany since in previous dates there had been a great enmity between them.
This German coin has the same design as the currency of France, except for two differences. The French currency has the initials RF (French Republic) and the German currency has the acronym D (Germany in German Deutschland). The second difference is that the Germans have different brands, each one of their 5 different Mints where they have been manufactured (A, D, F, G and J).
On the coin appear President Charles de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, as they were the protagonists of the signing of the Treaty of Elisha.
This commemoration makes the coin special in the collection of 2 Euro coins from Europe.
