This 2 euro collectible coin refers to the 50th anniversary of the Elysee Treaty, which took place in the Elysee Palace in Paris on January 22, 1963. With this treaty of friendship, the relationship between France and West Germany improved. since in previous dates there had been a great enmity between them.
This German coin has the same design as the French coin, except for two differences. The French currency is engraved with the initials RF (French Republic) and the German currency is engraved with the initials D (Germany in German Deutschland). The second difference is that the Germans have different brands, each one of their 5 different mints where they have been manufactured (A, D, F, G and J).
On the coin are portrayed President Charles de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, since they were the protagonists of the signing of the Treaty of Elysee.
This commemoration makes the coin special within the collection of 2 euro coins from Europe.
