The Great Wall of China is a great emblem of the Asian country. It is the largest ancient building in the world. In total it has more than 20,000 kilometers in length and in one part it has 7,000 kilometers of continuous wall. Being such an extensive construction, it was built at different times in Chinese history and today most of the sections are in poor condition.
DATA ON THE GREAT MURALLA CHINA
As an anecdote, for many years it was believed that the Great Wall of China could be seen from the Moon. Richard Halliburton in his book Second Book of Marvels affirmed that the Great Wall was the only human construction that could be seen from the Moon, but years ago said affirmation was denied by several astronauts and in 2004, NASA denied it, because in a photo taken from the space in which the Great Wall seemed to be seen, it was actually the bed of a river between the mountains.
In 1987, Unesco designated the Great Wall as a World Heritage Site.
In the year 2007, The Great Wall was named to belong to the list of The New Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
